Matildas captain Sam Kerr has moved quickly to refute a report that she is set to depart Chelsea at season's end to join American NWSL expansion club Denver Summit.

Network 10 reported the 32-year-old Kerr has signed with the Colorado-based club.

However, Kerr took to social media shortly after to debunk the news, posting on Snapchat with the text: "Don't believe everything you read in the media man, they know a decision before me" -- followed by a couple of laughing-with-tears and skull emojis.

Striker Kerr has spent six Women's Super League seasons with powerhouse Chelsea in England, winning five WSL titles and three FA Cups.

The move to the US would be a return for Kerr who previously was a prolific scorer in stints with NWSL clubs Western New York Flash, Sky Blue FC and Chicago Red Stars before joining Chelsea.

Denver Summit played their first NWSL game last month and have US ski star Mikaela Shiffrin and NGL great Peyton Manning among their owners.

Kerr led the Matildas to the home Women's Asian Cup final last month, beaten by Japan in the decider, having battled back from a serious knee injury which had kept her out of the game for an extended period.
